Super Sistahs is an
easy-to-read book with a fun-like approach to learning that is ideally
suited for adults and students. Morrie Turner, creator of the “Wee
Pals” cartoon series uses brilliant illustrations of African-American
women to weave a historical masterpiece that highlights the sometime
forgotten accomplishments of African American women.
The book is a wonderful educational tool for middle school and
senior high school students. It provides you with thumbnail historical
sketches of the past and present accomplishments of African American
women in sports, entertainment, government, religion, and the arts.
The quizzes and puzzles provide the reader with additional information
to assist you with doing further research about the women.
I found the book to be informative and a much-needed book for students
with reading problems. I believe it’s a teacher’s dream
to have such a valuable tool available to assist them with teaching
those students who have difficulties reading standard text.
I recommend the book as a text for middle school students, and
high school students with reading problems.
